TED.com Tuesday #3: Tim Brown urges designers to think big

I first found out about IDEO while working at my first Steelcase furniture dealership – Steelcase used to own IDEO.  This company is SO COOL…I would LOVE to work there.  Their project to come up with a new version of a shopping cart was featured on ABC’s Nightline.  The video is available for purchase here.

“Tim Brown is the CEO of the “innovation and design” firm IDEO — taking an approach to design that digs deeper than the surface.  Tim Brown says the design profession is preoccupied with creating nifty, fashionable objects — even as pressing questions like clean water access show it has a bigger role to play. He calls for a shift to local, collaborative, participatory “design thinking.””
